| Comments: The use of allow the use of scripts, pictures and fanfiction on non-profit fan sites actually helps 'heat up' the public interest. Some people start buying videos and products with logos only after they spend some time in their fan community and become much more interested in the film.
Fan sites are a good promotion tool really. After you ban everything or the most interesting parts the interest to your products will die off much sooner |

| Comments: Look, FRIENDS is made funny by the quotes and people like the quotes and should be able to read the scripts that contain the quotes they like. I want the scripts. I'm not doing aything illegal with them and I should be allowed to read things that I can't see in my country until later than in America.
As FRIENDS is no longer being made, I think the episodes should be available on the web. Whether by Warner Brothers or by sites like this one, people from all countries with access to the web should be able to enjoy FRIENDS in the written format if they can't on television.

I don't think us Friends fans are asking alot for the scripts of Friends to be put on websites, some Friends fans maybe can't actually get the videos. And sadly as everyone knows this is the last season (10). And wuldn't it be nice for Friends fans to to be able to reflect on the laughs, tears, promtotions of the fabolous 6.

| Comments: I believe very much in the legitimacy of this petition. The show has become a classic and "cult" sitcom, and as such, it has become part of pop culture. Imagine someone having trying to control everything about and around Elvis! There are aspects of pop culture icons that cannot be controled. One of those are the non violent, non agressive demonstrations of affection to them. Even less so, those that openly, nitidly present themselves as "non profit"!!
Hence, it is in the best interest of Warner to rather take advantage of the numerous fans visiting the site (by the way, much faster to download...)than trying to impose such a control on some aspects of the program. | Comments: It´s a shame this is happening. If the ranscripts were published before the show went on air, that´s ok to forbid it, but they are published after everyone has seen the show.
I´m particulary very sad because I love Friends and in Brazil it is on cable. Since I´m not being able to pay the cable for sometime now, I was always reading the transcripts to know what eas going on on the show. Beside that, the transcripts are a great oportunity to know what was really said on the show (because sometimes the subtitles are very wrong) and to review the old episodes.
I hope they think better about this.
Friends it´s a loved show and this atitude don´t bring any beneficts for the fans.

| Comments: I think you did a swell job, Eric Aasen (hey, my namesake:) ). I am a young college English teacher in China, and I selected and used some episodes of the pop sitcom "Friends" in my class. Superb teaching materials, and even better than "Growing Pains" that my teacher applied to teach me! My students loved the comedy so much! My friend in the US sent me video tapes and DVDs, and it will sure be greater if I can download and check all the scripts for non-profit use of English teaching and learning.
I did jot down some, but if there were ready made archives of them, why not save my time for lesson preparation? I do wish WB could lift the ban and allow visitors to view all scripts for non-commercial use.
By the way, could you pls send me scripts of the sixth and seventh seasons via email? Thank you so much!

The only way I cld stay in touch with it was through CFSI.com. | Comments: Friends has been my favourite programme on tv for many years, and it still remains to be so - but with the introduction of new rules by Warner Brothers they run the risk of ruining what was once a great programme with a big community of followers.
Please reconsider the actions you're taking to take down scripts from this site and others and understand that they didn't stop us from watching the programme - in fact, the scripts were mostly used and enjoyed by die hard fans who will probably go on to invest in DVDs and other Friends memorabilia!
There seems to be no reason why Warner Brothers feels the need to deprive the general public of the scripts, and I'm joining this petition to show I'd like them back. |

There were some episodes which I was unable to watch at all due to either its timing (since I was in different countries) or because they simply weren't shown on television (due to its 'unsuitable' content). The scripts really helped me at least understand what went on in the episodes I missed and instilled in me a desire to watch the ones I wasn't unable to watch! Reading the script didn't ruin the show for me - nor do I think they spoilt the viewership for any show. Rather, I think that by reading the script, it made you want to watch even more since you just *had* to see the delivery of the lines!
Please bring the CFSI back! It was a fantastic site run by a dedicated fan! |

Now, back to the topic, the CFSI was the best Friends site. It actually helped to get people into the show, since not everybody watched it from the begining. I discovered Friends during the sixth season, and I could only understand all the inside jokes (such as Phoebe's head count in 613) because of the scripts. Besides, the reason I continued watching the show was because I got catched up in the Ross and Rachel saga through the scripts, given I was too young to watch it when it originally aired. Plus, how can we know which ones are the uncut scenes in the new DVDs if we have nothing to compare the DVDs to? I guess WB's next step will be remove all the VCRs from our homes so we can't tape Friends. |

Reading the scripts transcribed by Eric is very helpful especially since the station who is airing it here in Manila cuts portions of the show to accomodate more commercials. Yup believe me, they cut about 5 minuts of the show each time they air it so sometimes you wonder what the joke was about. The scripts were a fantastic help to those who truly want to appreciate the show to its fullest. Check out other "official" Friends sites and you will only get a few words describing the show. The webmaster of cfsi took a lot of time to transcribe those episodes and if they have a disclaimer they should be allowed to display the scripts. Honestly, if I could watch T.V., I would watch Friends every week. But removing the scripts from the Internet is not going to force me to watch the show. It only makes me miss out, which makes me very unhappy with Warner Brothers. I would be much happier if there were a publicly available archive of the show, complete with supporting advertisements, available for video streaming on the Internet. All of us would be happy with that! Your commercial sponsors would be elated too, as the audience for Friends (and thus their commercials) would increase! (Although I'm sure you would have to pay increased talent costs for the commercial actors given the new delivery medium). How about you grow up as a corporation and embrace the Internet! But, in any case, the scripts were not harming anything. They served to make Friends more popular, not less, as more people could receive exposure to the show. You are only hurting yourself by forcing Eric Aasen and others to remove them. |

| Comments: I found the CFSI extremely helpful since I'm from Australia and we are behind America in our episodes of Friends.
Reading these scripts definently kept me sane until the new season of Friends was beginning.
I really don't see where the problems are with the CFSI having these transcripts up, They are a non-profit fan site, they aren't making any money form transcribing these scripts, Eric spent countless hours transcribing friends episodes manually just so other die hard fans of F.R.I.E.N.D.S could catch up on what is going on in the world of friends and to read past episodes.
I think it is a real shame that this has happened and i feel really sorry for Eric who put many hours of hard work into CFSI, only to have WB make him take his site down. WB you surely aren't losing any money by these transcripts being on the net, It is not like you have a book for sale that offers scripts for all the episodes is it?
Please let the site come back up, It is a godsend to many Friends Fans out there :) |

Fans of Friends, myself included, enjoy reading these scripts to see what we've missed and to laugh all over again.
The worst part about this is that Entertainment Weekly (of which you a the parent company) highlighted Mr. Ansen's web site in one of their editions last year and praised it!
